Multicast from Yealink T54W to GSC3505 speaker

#1

I am trying to multicast page to a few GSC3505 speakers. Multicast is working phone to phone fine and when I page the light on the speaker turns green but I get no sound. What am I missing?

#2

Has the corresponding multicast information been set?(the multicast listening address) such as follow:

#3

Or, the whitelist function of the GSC is not set to allow the T54 extension to page.

#4
  1. For the multicast paging feature, does the audio exists when initializing multicast paging.

  2. Confirm if the volume settings are correctly set on the GSC device.

  3. Please check and detect the Speaker in the device diagnostics module to see whether it is working as expected.

Please help to answer and advise.

#5

1: the mulitcast page works on all the other phones on that vlan and the light on the device does turn green

2: if I play the test sound on the speaker it is LOUD - I believe I may have a volume setting in my multicast template

#6

Try changing the listening MC address to the 224 range. I did not notice it before, but the listening address used is covered by a different RFC and is a source specific multi-cast address. Then try.

Do I have to whitelist something for multicast to work?

#8

I am not sure, but I do not think so. Just need to be in same LAN, but a reboot is required following setup.

#9

Here is my phone template. Yealink T54W

#Grandstream Page
multicast.paging_address.5.ip_address=224.224.224.5
multicast.paging_address.5.label=Grandstream
multicast.paging_address.5.channel=5
linekey.5.type=24

value 24 means the the type is paging

linekey.5.value = 224.224.224.5:1235
linekey.5.label = Grandstream
linekey.5.extension = 5
multicast.listen_address.5.ip_address=224.224.224.5:1235
multicast.listen_address.5.label= Grandstream
multicast.listen_address.5.channel=5

#Other parameters that may use for paging :
multicast.codec= G722

multicast.receive_priority.enable=0
#It enables or disables the phone to handle the incoming multicast paging calls when there is an active multicast paging call on the phone.
#0-Disabled, the phone will ignore the incoming multicast paging calls when there is an active multicast paging call on the phone.
#1-Enabled(default), the phone will receive the incoming multicast paging call with a higher priority and ignore the one with a lower priority

multicast.receive_priority.priority=0
#It configures the priority of the voice call (a normal phone call rather than a multicast paging call) in progress.

1 is the highest priority, 31 is the lowest priority

#0-Disabled, all incoming multicast paging calls will be automatically ignored when a voice call is in progress.
#1-1
#2-2
#3-3
#…
#31-31 (default)
#If it is set to other values, the phone will receive the incoming multicast paging call with a higher or equal priority and ignore the one with a lower priority when a voice call is in progress.

multicast.receive.ignore_dnd.priority=0
#It configures the lowest priority of the multicast paging call that can be received when DND is activated in phone mode.
#1 is the highest priority, 31 is the lowest priority.

Note: It is not applicable to CP920 phones.

#0-Disabled, all incoming multicast paging calls will be automatically ignored when DND is activated in phone mode.
#1-1
#2-2
#3-3
#…
#31-31
#If it is not set to 0 (Disabled), the phone will receive the incoming multicast paging call with a higher or same priority than
#this value and ignore that with a lower priority than this value when DND is activated in phone mode.

multicast.listen_address.5.volume=0
#It configures the volume of the speaker when receiving the multicast paging calls.
#If it is set to 0(default), the current volume of the speaker takes effect. The volume of the speaker can be adjusted by pressing the Volume key in advance when the phone is during a call.

You can also adjust the volume of the speaker during the paging call.

If it is set to 1 to 15, the configured volume takes effect and the current volume of the speaker will be ignored. You are not allowed to adjust the volume of the speaker during the paging call.

multicast.receive.enhance_volume=0
#It enables or disables the volume enhancement feature when receiving the multicast paging calls.
#Note: It works only if multicast.listen_address.X.volume is not set to 0. If the value the parameter “multicast.listen_address.X.volume” is set to 1-15 and the value of this parameter is set to 1 (Enabled),
#the receiving volume will be 16-30
#0-Disabled (default)
#1-Enabled, the receiving volume will be increased by 15 level

multicast.receive.use_speaker=0
#It enables or disables the phone to always use the speaker as the audio device when receiving the multicast paging calls.
#0-Disabled (default), the engaged audio device will be used when receiving the multicast paging calls.
#1-Enabled

#10

I would not worry so much about the template at this point as all the settings are available via the web, Get the MC working and then focus on the template and possibly you can download an xml of the working config and translate that into the template.

#11

Can you recommend a tool to help test MC? Like I said my multicast is working for my phone to phone paging. The light on the speaker turns green but no sound comes out.

#12

What codec is set? Try PCMA.

#13

#14

Success?

#15

No… It shows the call and the timer runs but I still get no sound out of the speaker. Does this mean anything to you? I will attach a full log in another message

959 D CallSettingService: getMatchedDoorSystemMode->callerNumber=224.224.224.5:1235,callerName=Test,didn’t find matched mode

#16

Did you change the codec? Are the yealinks aet with pcma/g711a?

#17

They were set to G722 but I tried to change it to what you suggested.

#18

Try putting Test in as the label on the gsc

#19

That was set

#20

Ca you grab a pcap capture of the call, not syslog.
