HT802 FW Update fail

firmware-release

#1

On Upload the lates FW ht802fw.bin (1.0.33.4) the following error comes up:

HTTP/1.0 500 Server Error Content-Type: text/html CGI Error
Attempted to send content larger than allowed limits.

#2

Put in the FW Update field:

firmware.grandstream.com

Reboot HT82 and wait for updating

N.B.: Obviously make sure that HT802 accesses Internet regularly

#3

I also ran into this when trying to update via http locally, I think current image sizes are large enough that it’s running into a limit somewhere. As a work around I used TFTP instead and that worked.

#4

try to make a format factory first to see if you solve

Please help me on updating the firmware from HT802 1.0.35.4 to HT802 [1.0.41.2]

I am having the issue updating the Firmware for Ht802. Any steps that I need to take?

I am receiving this error :
HTTP:/1.0 500 Server Error Content-Type: text/html CGI Error
Attempted to send content Larger than allowed limits

Thanks for your feedback and reply

I have done FW Update and rebooting and did wait for updating. As I wait, it gives an error:

“HTTP:/1.0 500 Server Error Content-Type: text/html CGI Error
Attempted to send content Larger than allowed limits”

It is connected to FiOS modem / router directly, so It does have access to internet regularly.
Any possible solution other than your guidance,

thnx

We also have problems updating the Firmware of Grandstream HT802. We have tried an update on two different devices. Both - the update via local directory and via http do not work. I can’t find a suggested solution here on the forum that is actually useful and fixes the problem. Apparently many people have this problem, but it hasn’t really been solved according to the forum.
The two HT802’s are currently version 1.0.35.4 and we have tried updates to the latest or even previous versions. Using local directory I am receiving this error: “HTTP:/1.0 500 Server Error Content-Type: text/html CGI Error
Attempted to send content Larger than allowed limits”.
and over http nothing happens. We have already waited two days - no update, no update attempt. Who can offer a helpful suggestion and tell how to fix the problem?

Thanks for feedback

Here are the actions that you need to try/make

  • Set the Allow DHCP Option 66 or 160 to override server to No
  • Set the Upgrade Via to HTTP
  • Set the Firmware Server Path to your local HTTP server IP or to firmware.grandstream.com
  • Reboot you unit

If the issue persists contact GS support team.

This worked for me. First, I loaded 1.0.35.4 on my HT812 manually. That worked. Then I used the instructions from elect0n and made the changes suggested. Then After rebooting it loaded the latest firmware on my HT812.
