GDS3710 connections for a newbie

#1

I’m trying to wire an SDC 45-4S lock and am full of questions.

  1. This lock pulls a max of 200mA DC at 12V. I am powering the GDS3710 via POE. Do I need an external power supply?

  2. The wiring diagram for the lock can be found here: https://sdcsecurity.com/docs/INST-45Series.pdf. What wires get connected to which terminals on the GDS3710 when set in Fail Secure?

  3. Do I need an EMF diode in this situation? And if so, can you post a link to one?

Thanks in advance!

  1. Yes, the lock or strike need its own power source, an external 12VDC power supply. The GDS3710 cannot provide any juice to the locker.

  2. Need to connect to GDS3710 COM2/NC2 (Fail Secure) socket, see the side label on the GDS3710 back board. You can refer to the GDS3710 QIG or UM for more information:

  3. Yes, a EMF diode is required to protect the circuit. You can get all the resource information from here:

Hope this helps. Thank you for using GDS3710.
