Dodo australia, grandstream 801t, account not valid

#1

Please help…I have purchased a ht 801, and i have it registered using the information from this post: Trouble with HT801 and Australian ISP Dodo

The issue I have is, I make a call out, and the dial tone is not sounding right, and 10 or so seconds after I dial a number, there is an automated voice saying “this account is not valid”.

The ata is registered, and seems to be doing what it is supposed to do.

Is the issue with the ata, or dodo.

I cannot find an “account” information area within the operating system of the grandstream device.

I have a dlink 3890 modem paired with the ht 801.

any advice to rectify the issue would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to ensure that you have the registration details set correctly, as the information given by you indicates the ATA isn’t correctly set up else you’d be making calls.

What if you log into the modem / router and as a test, DMZ the ATA - what happens then ? does the ATA register correctly and allow you to dial ?

Re dial tone, I have a set up for Aussie ATA’s and other Grandstream devices on the forum, this encompasses dial tone, ring tone, busy tone and others.

I am afraid all the info I have is in that post…

Hi.
Thanks for replying.

I don’t know what a DMZ on my router would look like, and I haven’t tried that.

Is there a layer of authentication that might need to be done on the ATA locally?
Because it seems to be working and is registered.

I think dodo have locked out any other device from their VoIP network to be honest.

There is no “account” section that I can see on the grandstream device that I can input info into, and all the details are correct that I have been given by them to register the device on the network.

At this stage, I’m at a loss.

Can you receive calls on the number provided?

#6

You likely have a dynamic public IP and the ata does not know what that might be unless STUN is in use. Then unless you are port forwarding, keep-alives should be enabled (options) and for every 30 seconds.
Now, while the ata knows the public ip, it need to tell your provider. So, do a “what is my IP” using a web browser. Once the browser returns with the ipv4 address, copy it and then paste in the ata under NAT IP.
Finally, look in the ata for the IP to use and select WAN. This will tell your provider what IP to they should use when wanting to communicate to the ata.

#7

No.
But there may be a call forwarding service in play. I have yet to figure out how to check that.

#8

I Tried all that.
no change in “this account number is not valid”

Please find a link to all the screenshots i took of the device settings to help you with understanding what i may have done wrong.https://photos.app.goo.gl/9BdpvoWBqJYrxicZ6

Ok. Here are some issues -

Firmware upgrade is http, not https when using GS.
Set accept messaging from SIP proxy only to yes. This prevents hackers.
Make all the codecs in the HT read pcmu if in N. America with the last being g729. If elsewhere set all to pcma andg729 as last, then try.
Run a SIP capture of and outbound call.

Do you have credit to make calls on the DoDo voip account?
Do you have a modem that you can log in and control / change configuration or is it locked to DoDo ?

#11

My modem is a dlink 3890.
My dodo modem failed which is why i had to buy the ata, as the dlink has no such functionality

:point_up_2: All done.

Run a SIP capture of and outbound call.
:point_up_2: I dont know how to do this.

Still no change with “this account number is not valid”.

maintenance, network capture

#15

Yes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the tardiness, real life is challenging.
Medical phone calls are the reason for the VoIP service to be reinstated.

Dealing with that reality has me time poor.

#16

Is that on the grandstream device?

#17

DMZ your ATA IP address at the modem as a test and see if you can then send or receive a call.

There is something that seems to be assumed, but has not been stated, so I’ll ask a few questions. I am interested in getting a bigger picture of your situation.

Have you contacted Dodo and asked for assistance?
Did Dodo supply the DLink 3890, or did you purchase that from a store?
Did Dodo supply the Grandstream HT801, or did they recommend it?
Is Dodo supplying you both internet and VOIP services?

I think I can answer those with the answers and local knowledge.

Modem was purchased by @daftpunkdad to replace an Aussie ISP carriers modem (DoDo) also purchasing a Grandstream ATA for Grandstream FXS ports for some form of Analogue device that is needed.

DoDo are a residential grade ISP who provides a voice port on the modem so the customer can make and receive calls in a residential environment - one of the Government requirements of all ISP’s for residential customers here in Australia.

I know DoDo are very slow at helping and in the past have caused no end of pain for residential customers in my district trying to gain assistance (they are not business oriented), maybe that is why that he has opted for buying the hardware - instead of https://support.dodo.com/modem-setup-guides/setting-your-modem#can-i-buy-dodo-modem.

I believe that DoDo will not have made the voice details readily available ergo why the issues with the ATA.

DoDo do provide the voice and internet for the customer.

For @daftpunkdad - see below and adjust your ATA accordingly.

Proxy: voip.dodo.com.au [I assume this is what DODO has provided as the proxy]
Use outbound proxy: yes [I include this because your post above implies DODO needs it.]
Outbound Proxy: voip.dodo.com.au
Display Name: your account phone number starting 61…
User ID: your account phone number starting 61…
Password: your voip password
Use Auth ID: yes
Auth ID: your account phone number starting 61…

I was hoping that the situation was not this bad.
