Weather / Currency Apps Not Working!
« on: September 16, 2017, 01:03:21 PM »
I am running the newest Firmware 1.0.9.25 on our GXP 2160's. We have had the phones for a little over a year. When we first installed them, the weather app worked (albeit intermittently). However, within the past year or so we have performed all of the latest firmware upgrades and the apps have stopped working all together. Reading through MANY other post of people with similar problems, I have tried just about every suggestion. The latest Weather update seems to have changed the location to be the City, Country (ex. Baltimore,US). I have even tried Auto and still I cannot get anything! No Weather, No Currency. I have confirmed that port 80 through my ISP is open. Is there something I need to do in the UCM6104? Is there a way to test if the phone is reaching the internet?

Thanks in advance...
-Rob

Currency not working, again something on Yahoo changed.

I wonder why GS is so fixed on Yahoo.

Hello
I'm running version 1.0.9.26.  I had the same problem describe above. What seem to help me out was to change the "Self-Defined Time Zone" in Date and Time to my region following instruction
US Time Zones:
Pacific: PST+8PDT+7,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
Mountain: MST+7MDT+6,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
Central: CST+6CDT+5,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
Eastern: EST+5EDT+4,M3.2.0,M11.1.0
-----
So after changing to Eastern above, I was able to find my city in weather and now it works.  ex: Toronto, CA

nice graphic for weather on phone.

I would guess it would work also on version ...25

None of our GXP2160 has no currency nor weather.
I expect Grandstream to allow choosing the services from a list (like some other manufacturers). I don't like being tied to one supplier.

Part of the change requires users who are using “Self-Defined City Code” to change their setting. The upstream content provider has changed the API to yield a free-style search based on this argument instead of mapping to a specific code being used before.
Hence the city being displayed would have been incorrect.
These users should change this option to the name of the city, for instance: “Dallas”; “Dallas, NC”; “Dallas, Scotland”; “Liverpool”; “Liverpool, NY”; “Liverpool, England”.
Note: If you enter only the name of the city it’s going to go the best match.
In the case of Dallas it would be Dallas, TX; and in the case of the Liverpool it would be Liverpool, England.
In some instances using the country name behind the city name may be required.
