GXP2140 Firmware update failure , frozen on Initialization
« on: July 03, 2017, 01:07:25 PM »
I've been trying to upgrade 3 phones to the latest firmware, but they seem to be stuck - the screen freezes on "Firmware Update - Initializing..."

I've tried using HTTP to the Grandstream official servers, HTTP and TFTP to a local server, and HTTP to http://malab.grandstream.com/firmware/Color , trying release versions from 1.0.4.23 through 1.0.8.50. I've used the Pause + Right provision shortcut , I've used the web interface, and the direct phone menu. I've also tried SSH'ing to the phones and running the upgrade command for HTTP and TFTP on all phones, local and remote.

The firmware updates now seem to be scattered all over the place. Here's the software specs for each phone:

Phone 1
Software Version
Boot - 1.0.7.2
Core - 1.0.5.12
Base - 1.0.5.24
Prog - 1.0.5.33
Locale - 1.0.5.9
Recovery -1.0.7.7

Phone 2
Boot - 1.0.7.2
Core - 1.0.5.9
Base - 1.0.5.16
Prog - 1.0.5.18
Locale - 1.0.5.3
Recovery - 1.0.7.7

Phone 3
Boot - 1.0.7.2
Core - 1.0.5.9
Base - 1.0.5.16
Prog - 1.0.5.18
Locale - 1.0.5.3
Recovery - 1.0.8.12

Is there a way to force a downgrade or upgrade to a consistent version for these phones, or are they junked? I'm waiting on a support ticket response, with no indication of a solution yet. I can't load any different firmware at this point, of any version, with any method - they all freeze on the "Firmware Update - Initialization" screen right after reboot. Since the common factor between them all is Boot - 1.0.7.2 , I'm thinking this might be where the problem is?

I have the same issue. GXP2140 Stuck at version 1.0.5.33.

As well I have set up local http server and tftp server, used the web GUI to change settings ssh to force upgrade. but it seems to be caught in an infinite loop of saying its updating and then we are still stuck at the same version.

Is there a way to put the firmware on a usb drive and force it to load?
