Major issues with older hardware revision of DP720
« on: May 17, 2017, 04:39:34 PM »
We’ve had ongoing issues with the older hardware revision of Grandstream DP720 cordless handsets. The older hardware revision is 1.6A (EU).

The newer hardware revision of the DP720 is 1.8A (EU) and we have no issues with these.

The firmware on both old and new DP720 handsets and the DP750 base units is the latest (1.0.3.23).

The issues with the older revision handsets include: random reboots, less tolerant of partly discharged batteries, one way audio, random call disconnections.

I confirmed that the issue is related to the older hardware revision by replacing all the 1.6A revision DP720 handsets at one of our sites with the newer 1.8A hardware revision which resolved all their issues.

Given the seriousness of the issues, would Grandstream consider replacing older revision handsets with newer revision handsets under warranty?

Also, do the DP750 base units have more than one hardware revision?

If you explain that to your provider I believe they would.  If you want Grandstream to authorize it I believe you would need to open a ticket and start there.

We have one of the first units released, its version 1.6 US, ive not seen any reboots, we dont use it to much, its been fairly rock solid as far as i can tell.

That said we do still have the original batteries in it and it isnt used to much
Many Thanks
