Schedules
« on: April 17, 2017, 01:27:21 PM »
We've been trying to set up one of the GDS3710 devices with GDS Manager.
Everything seems to be working, except the time schedules.
Unless we are mistaken, are the timeframes only for logging/reporting?
Is it not possible to restrict access (i.e. being able to open a door) to specific hours (either with GDS Manager or directly in the device)?

If so, that really limits the usefulness of these devices and GDS Manager in general...

Yes, that "timeframe" is for GDSManager and for access/control LOG usage.

The GDS3710 firmware does not support open door by configured time frame. You can open a ticket and raise this feature as feature enhancement.

But I am worried about the I/O interface got toasted because currently all the I/O interface for electronic locker or strike is operated by short pulse (relay operation). Holding the relay for hours not sure will damage
the striker circuit or not. May need more information, or special electric striker, from the market or customers to support this feature. Thanks.

OK, I can understand not keeping it unlocked continuously, but I was actually speaking more along the lines of restricting users to being able to only access the door at specific times.
In others words, set a timeframe that the user is allowed to enter their code or use their RFID to trigger the door.
If outside that timeframe, deny access.

@kgupta:

I see your points now.

Currently we have GUEST mode, allowing temp. access using PIN for some visitors based on specific time frame.

Will log this schedule access permission as feature enhancement, and implement it in future firmware.
Appreciate if you could help to provide detailed request or information, like giving an example, so I can send to engineering for evaluation.

Thanks!

Sure, thank you.

Example would be:
Managers can have access 24/7, but employees should be restricted to office hours only.
Office hours are 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday.
If an employee tries to use their card or pin outside of those hours, the door will not open.

Ideally you would be able to set multiple schedules and assign them to users (or groups of users).
This would also need to be supported by the GDS Manager software so you set it once and are able to push it to all doors (or specific doors even).

YES PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE.  We have several other access systems and didn't realize that the GDS did not have a schedule where only certain cards worked certain times.  ALL other access systems have this feature.  Without it, the GDS is not a viable option in this market.  Believe me, this is a make or break feature.  Also, in an environment with multiple GDS, certain cards should only access certain doors but not other doors.  Cards should be put into groups and access privileges  assigned to those groups.  Specific doors at specific times.  Until you add this you will not compete with other systems and companies will return your product because it will not fit their needs.
In summary, card systems are used because of their versatility and level of control.  Without these features cards are just the same as keys.

Excellent news!
We look forward to trying it.

Please ensure that the schedules can be managed via GDS Manager so they can be pushed to multiple devices.
Thank you!

Already implemented. Please try FW1.0.2.22 and provide feedback so we can improve. Thanks.
