GXP2000 losing time

RSS FEED

Hi,We have about 6 GXP2000 IP phones with strange behaviour with the time settings. These phones would boot up, get time / date from the NTP server and display the correct time (BST Timezone). However, after a while (usually by the next day), the time will go back by 5 hours for no apparent reason. The phones are on the latest firmware (first thing I did), but the problem has gone worse (before *some* of the phones would do it for a while, then stopped, now *all* of them have the same problem).Any ideas what would cause the time to change? It is always 5 hours and seems that the timezone changes for some strange reason. I've also been pushing debug messages to a syslog server, but it is difficult to see what time it changes as we don't any details on the local time during syslog writes.Any help appreciated.Carel

Hi, try to change the time server. I use pool.ntp.org and it works fine with *.16 firmware. Also make sure that your firewall lets ntp requests pass (usually the case). bye

Yes, change another NTP server. pool.ntp.org works perfectly on mine.

I finally found the cause of the problem:# Allow DHCP Option 2 to override Time Zone setting. 0 - No, 1 - Yes.# When set to Yes(1), it will override the configured Time Zone setting if available.P143 = 0Set the above to 1 and at random times the timezone will change by 5 hours. Set it to 0 and the problem goes away. Thing is - there's no option 2 set on the DHCP server and you would expect this to *always* be wrong if it was overwriting something. Looks very much like a bug to me.Carel
