Setting time

RSS FEED

I understand that the time display is sychronized to the internet server time and need to be online in order to get real time according to the set time zone.We have a set of GXV3000 connected via a softswitch in a close network and it is not connected to the internet. Does anyone know whether the phone allow to user to set the local time without connecting to the internet? If it can be done, how do you do it?Thanks.a_chong

Normally the problem as you descriped it has to do with the local DNS server. The time server is an URL so the DNS must be able to find that URL on the internet, otherwise it won't be able to retrieve current time. You could setup a server with the time service and let the phone retrieve current time from there.

Do I then in the web-browser admin page of the phone, set the following from No to Yes?Allow DHCP Option 42 to override NTP server:     No     YesFollowing this is  to setup  the time service in the server, right?

No need for that, just set the server name as tme server

I had checked with some one on this same issue and I'm told that I may need to install a time software to make the server a time server. Do you think the so?

yes, that is what I meant in my first answer. It is not difficult to do, if you have a windows 2003 server this will give you a clue on how to do that:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042
