Firmware update problem
« on: December 14, 2012, 05:53:43 AM »
Hi

My Grandstream HT-502 fail update to firmware 1.0.8.4

Other firmware have the format like ht502base.bin, ht502basea.bin, ht502boota.bin, ht502core.bin.....
and now it is only one .bin file ht502fw.bin.
But ht 502 search for ht502base.bin, ht502basea.bin, ht502boota.bin, ht502core.bin..... and not ht502fw.bin

Why?

im not sure if the HT502 is the same as the GXW series but I found that if your unit shipped with old firmware..  to get it to upgrade ot the single firmware file I had to go up to something new enough that recognized the newer style firmwere..

so I used the multiple cocktail firmware of 1.0.6.7  to upgrade my unit..  once that was on the unit, I deleted the 1.0.6.7 firmware and placed the single file 1.0.8.4 file on the server and upgraded the unit successfully..

My HT502 is using firmware version 1.0.1.63 and it does not update automatically as well.

How can we get an old firmware revision ?

im thinking you open a ticket to Grandstream..  I have many firmwares for the GXW4024's  but not for the ht502..

Grandstream needs to write tech doc.. the isssue is that the older firmware does not recognize the single firmware file setup...
they need to put up for download one pf the versions that recognizes both styles..
